Working Together To Promote the Benefits of Counselling

South Australian Professional Counsellors Association (SAPCA) works with its members to promote growth and development of the counselling profession. SAPCA was developed with the aim of encouraging its members to meet with colleagues deal with local issues at a state level.

We work closely with our parent body the ACA to provide our members with current news and information, keeping them informed with what is happening in our profession.

SAPCA represents the interests of the counselling profession, and strives to promote recognition of qualified professional counsellors to the public.

What's in it For Me

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING ASSOCIATION INC.

$30.00 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP, "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?"

SAPCA provides numerous Professional Development workshops and a State Conference each year. All of these programs are based on counsellor activities and exposures on a day to day basis, providing practical material and discussions. They are also based on feedback that the committee receives from members in relation to needs. Our facilitators are drawn from various sources all of whom have displayed exceptional knowledge and delivery skills.

Our membership of the governing body of the Australian Counselling Association, (of which we are affiliated) requires that members fulfill ongoing professional development in order to maintain their accreditation. SAPCA runs workshops (OPD's) throughout the year {at a reduced rate for members}; these workshops enable participants to earn points to fulfil ACA membership requirements.

SAPCA makes this requirement easy due to the recognition and allocation of points for attending any of our functions that also includes an open invitation to attend SAPCA committee meetings.

As an incorporated body we work closely with the ACA and abide by the ethics and standards of that association. The ACA is an internationally recognised peak body in the field of counselling and works enthusiastically to promote Counselling and Psychology with dedication and determination to gain a range of benefits for Counselling and Counsellors throughout Australia.

For those who may be dollar conscious, we deliberately price our functions to create membership incentive. We would on average hold at least 6 professional development workshops that would save a minimum of $30.00 and our Conference would be another $30.00 saving.

To date we have provided regular communication to over 350 counsellors and other interested parties on our data base regarding counselling and industry related matters. In the future we will be reducing that outflow of communication to those who value that information and take up SAPCA membership.

Accordingly, we encourage non members/interested parties to act now by going to our website www.counsellingsa.org and download the application form and forward as soon as possible. Please note that membership to the Australian Counselling Association is a pre-requisite.

In conclusion SAPCA provides a forum for counsellors to network, an activity that always ranks highly in feedback from members.

Bookmark the website and review on a regular basis as we continue to provide up to date information, workshops etc. not only SAPCA initiated but also from other outside sources. All for your benefit:

Your feedback is always welcome, so please use our email address. If we are doing it right or if we need to make adjustments then please tell us:

For those of you who are financial members of SAPCA please use this document as an information sheet, or pass it on to someone you may know who will be interested.

Thank you.
